After a hard week of work and stress my sweet bf and I took a spontaneous trip to Perrisos vineyards in Burnet Texas! I have been to a few different vineyards in Switzerland back when I was in Europe and let me tell you, Vineyards are underrated!! The experience is one to bask in, and I was quite impressed with Perrisos’ hospitality as well as the beauty of their well- kept vineyards.
We arrived at Perrisos around noon from Austin Texas which is about an hour away. The drive was boring for the most part until we got closer to Burnet which was filled with tiny towns and hole-in-the-wall eateries. Upon driving into the vineyard we Immediately noticed how beautiful the Vineyard actually was. Being from Texas, you don’t find a lot of scenic eye candy (other than Austin)other than flat lands but here we found lush rows of green vines! We sat on the balcony of the winery and were immediately greeted by friendly, knowledgeable hosts who began our wine tasting experience (for only $15)
We also ordered a cheese and crackers tray, although I couldn’t eat the crackers (gluten intolerant) the fruit and cheese was great tasting and fresh!
They allow you to walk around with your wine glass and come back to your table as desired for the next wine to be tasted, which was great because I wanted to skip down the vineyards and explore while sipping!
By the time we were done with our third glass of tasting we were both feeling pretty good, the grounds were quiet and big enough that even with a crowd of people, you could find walking areas that were totally secluded. We decided to go sit at the picnic tables and to our delight a band was just setting up to play!
The adventure was one to remember and the spontaneity of it was the best part! When planning trips sometimes you get really caught up in the “planning” part and forget to LIVE the adventure. I’ve also learned there’s a difference between adventures and vacations. Adventures are what Bilbo Baggins went on! An unplanned, unknowing quest! Remind yourself to get less caught up in logistics and planning and just see where the road takes you.
Don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers.
